"She’s a damn good producer." — Me (but honestly, others have said it too.)
Hi, I’m Sheng-Ting Shen, not Sheng, not Shen, and definitely not Ting Shen (seriously, I’ve been called all of them). But for simplicity, I also go by Sandy.
I’m a Taiwanese filmmaker and creative producer based in New York City, working at the intersection of emotionally driven independent film and bold genre storytelling, with a healthy dash of branded social & commercial chaos.
My directorial shorts include Bad News (2020) and The Coolest Club (2022). As a producer, I recently wrapped Miss Mermaid, a family drama now in post, which was selected for the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival Creators Market. I also produced the punk musical proof-of-concept short for The First Kiss of the Night, and The Martial Forest, a genre-bending queer martial arts short that’s been kicking its way through the festival circuit.
I’ve been lucky to develop work through labs and markets like HAF (Hong Kong International Film Festival), Reclaim the Frame’s Filmonomics Lab, and BIFAN Fantastic Film School. Whether I’m directing or producing, I care about building cinematic worlds that amplify underrepresented voices, and I love blending scrappy indie heart with polished, visual storytelling.
In my day job, I’m a Senior Producer at IL MAKIAGE, where I lead video and photo production for everything from branded content to high-impact paid social. Basically, I live between worlds: commercial and independent, strategy and story, chaos and creativity.
